Spray Foam Insulation Health Concerns

Spray foam insulation is known to contribute to people developing breathing issues as well as having other adverse effects on health with prolonged exposure. This is mainly due to off-gassing, however some fumes are a lot more toxic than many spray foam insulation installers let on.

Some common issues that spray foam insulation in the home can cause include:

Headaches
Respiratory disorders
Hormone disruption
Certain forms of cancers
In short, spray foam applications generate harmful isocyanate vapours which can lead to sensitisation. It could also trigger an allergic reaction such as watery eyes, itchy skin or a rash.

According to indoor doctor, having an airtight home means that any moisture that becomes trapped within the home can no longer escape. If you do not have proper ventilation in the home, moisture can cause excess damage and any savings from using spray foam will be negated.

The air quality indoors will begin to plummet if you do not employ other methods of improving it
